DIY Gear Shift Indicator Kawasaki Fury Motorcycle

DIY Gear Shift Indicator Kawasaki Fury Motorcycle
This is a DIY to make a gear shift indicator for my Kawasaki Fury 125. It is for the 4th gear as my Fury gear sensor has only 2 contacts – 1 for Neutral and the other for the 4th gear.
Here’s the process:
1) As stated in the video, get with you a small 12-volt bulb and a holder in some motorcycle or car shop. If not available you can ask for bright LED 3-v, a holder and 1k – 1/4w resistor. (if you got the LED, connect it in series with the resistor in the positive pin – just ask the salesman where is the positive pin of the LED, you have to solder it.) – BUT a 12-v bulb is better as you can direct connect the wires.

2) Remove your headlight and open your instrument panel and also open your left side fairings to have access on the wire routes from instrument panel down to the connector above the small sprocket cover.

3) Drill a hole to fit your bulb holder on the location I mentioned in the instrument panel or whereever you want to place your 4th gear indicator and fit the bulb holder and the bulb.

4) Run your positive (red) wire from the bulb to the connector above the small sprocket cover and tap to the next vacant wire. Usually there are 2 wires from the sprocket cover to the connector, but only 1 wire has existing connection to the instrument panel. Tap your positive wire to the vacant wire.

5) Turn on your bike and put to 4th gear. Tap your negative (black) wire to any wire on the headlamp connector. Make a trial and error to where it can be tapped to make the bulb to lit.

6. Once, you got where to tap your wires, test if the light will turn-off if you shift your gear other than 4th gear. Once OK, fix all your wire connections and wire routes and put back everything in place. Just follow some of my tips in the video or you can apply your own ingenuity.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE A SAFE RIDE!!! GOD BLESS!!!
